We already use 3D and 2D CAD in our
courses — why should I consider the OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program?
Parametric CAD systems are common in the market.
CoCreate OneSpace Modeling offers an innovative
explicit approach to 3D product development that is
seen as an emerging trend within the industry. This
approach gives Microsoft Office-like productivity to
your students designing in 3D. Here are some scenarios
to consider:
Switch to OneSpace Modeling — enrich the design
skills of the student community by focusing more on
design than understanding the complex approach of
most other 3D CAD systems. This results in students rich in
design skills rather than cumbersome CAD operations.
Run OneSpace Modeling alongside existing 3D CAD tools —
broaden the technical skills base of the student
community to include the preferred CAD tools of leading
high tech companies.
Academic enrichment - Explain parametric versus
explicit modeling based approaches through hands on sessions, so
that students understand the two product development approaches
used in the 3D CAD industry.
I am a faculty member — Can I try
the software before registering my academic institution?
Yes. Faculty members can simply register for a trial
account, download and install OneSpace Modeling PE, and
review the supporting materials. Trial use is limited to
two PCs. To equip all campus and home PCs with the free
2D and 3D CAD software, a faculty member must enroll the
academic institution in the program.
Im a student — can I enroll my
academic institution for the OneSpace Modeling PE for Eductation Program?
No — only a faculty member can enroll the academic
institution. Students have two choices:
- Register for an individual copy of OneSpace
Modeling PE (register yourself and use the software
on a maximum of two PCs).
- Simply ask a faculty member within the academic
institution to sign up for the program.
What do I need to do to enroll my
academic institution in the OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program?
All we need is details of your academic institution,
including:
- The name of your academic institution
- Your
contact details (you must be a faculty member)
- The
number of PC's you wish to install the free software
on
- The email domain(s) used by your institution, so
that only your institutions students and staff can
register
- The estimated number of students that will
access the software yearly
- Agreement to the Terms
and Conditions
How can I get CoCreate Software?
Once your academic institution is enrolled, you can download the software:
- Installing on campus classroom PCs — You can download an installation package on one PC, and provide access to OneSpace Modeling PE and CoCreate OneSpace Drafting across the PC network.
- Installing on Home PCs — Download and install OneSpace Modeling PE and CoCreate OneSpace Drafting on up to two Home PCs per registered user.
I typically teach design using 2D CAD — Does CoCreate
Software have 2D CAD?
Yes. The OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program provides access to CoCreate OneSpace Drafting. OneSpace Drafting is our 2D CAD software that offers mechanical engineers and designers a complete 2D
CAD system tailored precisely to their needs.
How easy is it to install in my CAD classroom?
Installing on campus classroom PCs requires installation of the CoCreate
OneSpace License Server and then OneSpace Modeling PE and CoCreate OneSpace Drafting. The
OneSpace License Server will issue the maximum number of seats you requested during enrollment.
Are my students allowed to use
CoCreate Software on their home computers?
Yes — we encourage faculty staff to promote the software to their students. When faculty staff enrolls the academic institution, they receive a special student referral code. Students can register directly with CoCreate, using the student referral code. This ensures students can access and use exactly the same software that is available in the classroom.
I've moved to a new educational establishment.
Can I re-register my OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program?
Contact us and confirm your move. We will register you at the new academic institution, and you will be able to use your new email to access a new account.
Is the 3D CAD software of CoCreate OneSpace Modeling different from OneSpace Modeling PE my friends are using or the OneSpace Modeling
3D CAD software my students use in their summer jobs?
The software is essentially functionally identical, with one major exception. The design data created with the educational version of OneSpace Modeling is not sharable with the commercial versions of OneSpace Modeling.
To make sure you can share 3D design data with your friends using OneSpace Modeling PE, you can freely exchange
design data between the free OnePE versions and educational version.
I've completed my academic studies, can I continue to using
CoCreate Software?
No — the program's software is only for students attending an academic institution — once you have completed your studies you must discontinue use of the
program's software. However, you can re-register and use OneSpace Modeling PE privately using your private email and contact details — you can freely exchange data been the two versions.
What if I
or my students need help with
using CoCreate Software?
OneSpace Modeling PE includes online Quickstart Projects that aid in learning the
3D CAD software, as well as the detailed help and classroom training materials.
OneSpace Modeling PE is a Windows®-native application, so if you know how to use popular Windows programs, you're already on your way to learning how to use it.
Your teacher or professor might be a good resource for questions and help. However, if you have a problem you can't solve by yourself, you can log on to the OneSpace Modeling PE International Forum. The
forum offers a valuable source of assistance, from other students and users of OneSpace Modeling PE.
Is OneSpace Modeling PE time limited?
The Home PC edition has no time limit. We only ask that when you complete your studies, you
re-register to use OneSpace Modeling PE, and discontinue using the
program'ssoftware.
The software installed in the campus classroom has a time limit of 36 months before expiring — the software can be reactivated by simply requesting new time limited passwords and copying them into the
OneSpace License Server. The time limit is to ensure classrooms are upgrading to the
software to the latest release on at least a 36 month cycle.
What if I need more capabilities
than what is offered by OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program?
The OneSpace Modeling PE for Education Program provides free software that can be a core part of the curriculum of any design, engineering, and technology course, from short courses up to the level of multi-year engineering degrees.
Academic institutions may require more capabilities, for example, when working on joint projects with industry, or in areas of advanced engineering research. For these needs, academic institutions should consider the CoCreate Educational
