CoCreate Wins Design News' 2006 Golden Mousetrap Award
CoCreate voted #1 over CATIA, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and Alibre
FORT COLLINS, Colo. and SINDELFINGEN, Germany March 20, 2006 CoCreate
Software, Inc., a leading provider of 3rd Generation PLM software applications, and
Design News, a top engineering magazine with over 170,000 readers, today announced
that CoCreate was awarded the 2006 Golden Mousetrap Award for Best CAD/PLM Software Product.
For the 2006 Golden Mousetrap Award, Design News selected five finalists from
the industry's top CAD/PLM vendors who all recently launched a major product. The
final selection from these five was made by Design News' readers that voted CoCreate's
OneSpace 2006 product suite as being the best CAD/PLM software product over CATIA®,
SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor®, and Alibre.
"Receiving the Golden Mousetrap Award is a tremendous honor for our company" said
William M. Gascoigne, CoCreate CEO. "We delight in the recognition this brings us from
engineering users and our industry."
"CoCreate offers a fresh approach to design and product lifecycle management. With
the 2006 release of our OneSpace product suite, we are delivering capabilities that are
unmatched by our competitors and set to disrupt the status quo within our industry. This
is thrilling news for both our employees and customers alike," he said.
With the OneSpace 2006 release, CoCreate punctuated the differences between history-free
Dynamic Modeling and history-based design. Each approach offers unique benefits and serves
distinctly different needs within the market.
"It's rewarding for our readers to be designers today, who use world-class tools in
their work, and rise to the challenge of new product development," says Karen Field,
Design News Editor-in-Chief. "The 2006 Golden Mousetrap Awards highlighted this very
exciting industry that we all participate in. Please congratulate CoCreate on this year's award."
Besides Dynamic Modeling, the 2006 release provides a practical answer for PLM.
CoCreate focuses on the PLM process and fills the gap between product planning and
manufacturing systems, such as ERP, with a rich product development suite.
Unlike traditional PLM, which typically adds yet another enterprise IT layer,
CoCreate complements existing IT investments and introduces a rich 3D master model
to extend the reach of design data throughout the organization. This new way of
thinking is prompting companies that had previously rejected PLM to now pursue it
in a more attainable and cost-effective way. CoCreate terms this approach, "PLM that
makes sense."
