BOM handling changes effective with 2007 CoCreate OneSpace Suite version 15.50
BOM editing in both the BOM Editor module for OneSpace Model Manager and the standard CoCreate OneSpace Model Manager standard product are changing with CoCreate OneSpace Suite Version 15.50.
BOM Editor for OneSpace Model Manager: Add-on module adds value
BOM Editor for OneSpace Model Manager extends the standard Masterdata handling capabilities,
providing more BOM configuration management within the OneSpace Model Manager environment to
supplement and support your ERP BOM management requirements. Here's what you'll be able to do
with a license of BOM Editor for OneSpace Model Manager:
- Use the BOM Scan wizard to derive a Masterdata BOM structure from the model assembly structure. The wizard:
- Generates the parent/child links between the Masterdata items for each model to match the modeled assembly structure.
- Automatically reconciles total quantities based on the number of shared components in the assembly.
- Derives initial BOM position numbers based on the model assembly structure.
- Automatically captures the history of each scan and compares the resultant BOM structure over time.
- Use the BOM Editor interface to make changes to the BOM structure and capture a historical record of changes over time.
- Capture and track multiple versions of a BOM structure over time.
- Capture named BOM Checkpoints to create a snapshot of a BOM structure at a particular point in time. Create a BOM Checkpoint and you'll always have access to that BOM, even if the Masterdata is later removed from the database.
- Compare BOM versions and checkpoints to highlight differences.
- Mange BOM-specific attributes (link attributes) to indicate product Options (like European or Japanese compliance or deluxe versus standard configuration), BOM Views (such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, As Designed), Effectivity timing (to show when a part is valid and when another part replaces it), and other custom relationship or context-dependent attributes.
- Split a part to represent it multiple ways within the BOM (e.g., quantity=3 for Option X; quantity=6 for Option Y).
- Define and generate different BOM reports using various filters and quantity roll-up criteria, as well as facilities for BOM position number generation and renumbering.
- Send BOM report tables (see figure above) to Annotation for CoCreate OneSpace Modeling and CoCreate OneSpace Drawing Manager as well as to Excel and HTML.

Standard BOM capabilities offer plenty of power
You can still do a lot with just the BOM capabilities that come with the standard product. Here’s what you can do with OneSpace Model Manager 15.50:
- Manually create new Masterdata items via the OneSpace Model Manager Workspace user interface.
- Edit and manage all the database properties (attributes) of Masterdata.
- Manage the lifecycle of Masterdata items, through versioning and state changes.
Automatically create new Masterdata items when you save new models and drawings.
Browse to choose an existing Masterdata item to associate with a new model or drawing at save time.
- Automatically link new versions of models and drawing to all associated, and writeable, Masterdata (e.g., you can associate a model with one or many Masterdata items in the database).
- Bulk edit Masteradata items all at once using the new Table Editor (see figure).
- Add new child Masterdata items to an existing Masterdata item (right-click add new → Masterdata).
- Drag- and drop or copy/paste a Masterdata item onto another Masterdata item to establish a parent-child relationship.

- Drag and drop or copy/paste a model, drawing or other document element onto a Masterdata to establish relationships as attachments for that Masterdata.
- Export the Masterdata item with its metadata (attribute content) and all of the attachments, including models, drawings and other documents.
- Use the Web Services to build a BOM structure (i.e., imported from your ERP system).
- Use the Web Services to export the BOM structure from OneSpace Model Manager.
- View the where used tree structure for Masterdata.
- Perform comparisons of full Masterdata structures (including all attachments) and part structures (filtered to only consider Masterdata items). (See figure below.)
